Crowing in his State of the Union address last night that, because of the Affordable Care Act, health insurers no longer have “unchecked power to cancel your policy, deny your coverage, or charge women differently than men,” President Obama forgot to also mention that, for that very reason, the ACA also screws up the health insurance market in a profoundly basic way. . . .

If you wanna take umbrage with Obama’s SOTU speech, why not take into account that the the entire script revolved around the teamwork of the military. You know, the heroes. The “heroes” that pissed on Afghan corpses and “hero” Staff Seargent Wuterich that walked free after participating in the killing of 24 unarmed men, women, and children in Haditha, Iraq. “Imagine what we could accomplish if we followed their example” were the President’s exact words. And the press, a total free pass. Mustn’t do anything to even slightly derail the war machine. According to history, empires come and go. The glorification of militarism might just be a “slightly” bigger problem than “Pooling Equilibria”.
